Verizon built its reputation on reliability — the "Can you hear me now?" campaign wasn't just clever marketing, it was a direct claim on network quality that the company backed with years of top-tier independent testing scores. Formed in 2000 from the merger of Bell Atlantic and GTE, Verizon has grown into one of the largest telecommunications companies in the world, operating a wireless network that covers roughly 99 percent of the US population. Its CDMA-to-LTE evolution was among the earliest and most aggressive in the industry, giving it a multi-year head start on building 4G coverage depth.

Verizon's 5G strategy differs from T-Mobile's. While T-Mobile went wide with mid-band spectrum quickly, Verizon initially bet heavily on ultra-wideband mmWave for dense urban deployments, then acquired C-band spectrum in the 2021 FCC auction to build a nationwide mid-band layer.
