What is Savvas Learning?
Savvas Learning Company emerged in 2019 when Pearson sold its K-12 courseware business to Bluewater Education Group, which rebranded the operation as Savvas. The company inherited Pearson's decades-long portfolio of curriculum materials — including the Realize platform, enVision Mathematics, myPerspectives ELA, and Miller and Levine Biology — along with the digital infrastructure that delivered them to millions of students in US schools. The Savvas Realize platform serves as the digital delivery layer for curriculum programs that school districts have adopted as their core instructional materials.
Realize provides teachers with a digital curriculum browser, assignment creation and distribution, progress reporting, and tools to customise or rearrange curriculum content to match local teaching sequences. Students access assignments through the Realize student portal, completing digital readings, interactive activities, and auto-graded assessments. LTI integration with Canvas, Schoology, Google Classroom, and other LMS platforms allows districts to surface Realize assignments directly within the LMS interface students already use daily, reducing the number of separate logins required.
When Savvas Realize has problems, the core curriculum delivery layer for affected districts goes down — not a supplemental tool but the primary instructional resource. Teachers cannot access or distribute the day's lesson materials. Students find assignments in the Realize portal failing to load or returning authentication errors. LTI-launched assignments from Canvas or Schoology fail to open, showing error pages instead of the Realize content. Auto-graded assignment results fail to sync back to the LMS grade book, leaving teacher records incomplete.
