Pingdom
Pingdom, now part of SolarWinds, monitors website uptime, page speed, and transaction performance, alerting teams when issues arise.
What is Pingdom?
Pingdom has been monitoring website uptime since 2007, operating a global network of probe nodes that periodically check whether websites, APIs, and transactions are responding correctly. The service occupies a specific and critical position in web operations: it is the system that tells you your site is down before your customers call to report it. Originally a standalone Swedish startup, Pingdom was acquired by SolarWinds in 2014 and now operates as part of the SolarWinds Observability SaaS portfolio, which also includes Application Performance Monitoring inherited from the AppOptics acquisition.
Pingdom's monitoring runs from a distributed network of check nodes located across multiple continents, designed so that a check node failure in one region does not create false positives for monitored services. Uptime monitors check availability at configurable intervals as short as one minute, and transaction monitors replay multi-step user flows — logging in, adding to cart, completing checkout — at regular intervals. Alert routing is a critical capability: Pingdom integrates with PagerDuty, Opsgenie, Slack, and email to deliver notifications when a check fails, making it the trigger for incident response workflows at many organisations.
Pingdom service problems are particularly ironic when they occur — a monitoring service going down means the people responsible for monitoring other services temporarily have no uptime visibility. The most common failure modes are check nodes going offline, which increases the false positive rate for availability alerts as the remaining nodes have fewer confirming data points. Alert delivery failures — where a check detects a problem but the outgoing webhook to PagerDuty or Slack fails — are operationally serious because on-call engineers may not be paged for a real outage. The Pingdom dashboard itself may fail to load or display stale check results when the management backend is degraded. Alert routing rules changes made in the console fail to save when the backend has write errors.
Outage.gg tracks Pingdom service status using real-time community reports from web operations teams and IT administrators. If Pingdom is not sending alerts, check results are stale, or the dashboard is unavailable, the live status page shows current impact from the Pingdom user community.

Issues users most frequently report when Pingdom is having problems.
Login failures
Players are unable to sign in, receiving authentication errors or being stuck on loading screens.
Matchmaking problems
Unable to find or join matches, long queue times, or errors when trying to connect to game servers.
Disconnections mid-session
Getting unexpectedly kicked from active sessions, losing in-game progress or items.
In-game store & purchases
Cannot load the in-game store, complete purchases, or received items are not appearing in inventory.
Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about Pingdom outages and server status.
You can check the live Pingdom server status at outage.gg/services/pingdom. The page shows real-time community-submitted outage reports, an hourly trend chart, and the current health status.
Pingdom can stop working for a number of reasons including scheduled maintenance windows, unexpected server failures, network infrastructure problems, or DDoS attacks. Check the live status page on Outage.gg for the latest community reports to see if others are experiencing the same issue.
Go to outage.gg/services/pingdom and click the "Report an Issue" button. Your report is counted immediately and helps confirm whether a problem is widespread. Reports from multiple users trigger a status change visible to everyone watching the page.
Click the "Notify Me" bell button on the Pingdom status page at outage.gg/services/pingdom. Create a free account and we will send you an email the moment Pingdom comes back online — no app download required.
Many services maintain official status pages with planned maintenance notices. Outage.gg aggregates real-time community-reported outages which often surface faster than official channels.
