Dialpad is a cloud business phone system with built-in AI that transcribes calls and surfaces action items in real time.

What is Dialpad?

Dialpad built a business phone system on the premise that AI could do something traditional telephony couldn't: understand and document conversations in real time. Founded in San Francisco in 2011 by former Google Voice engineers, Dialpad's voice intelligence layer (Vi) transcribes calls live, surfaces recommended responses during customer conversations, flags action items, and generates post-call summaries automatically. That differentiation helped Dialpad grow into a UCaaS (Unified Communications as a Service) platform serving tens of thousands of businesses as a more analytically capable alternative to generic VoIP providers.

The platform runs on a cloud-native architecture using Google Cloud Platform, with voice calls processed through WebRTC for browser-based calling and SIP trunking for PSTN connectivity. The AI transcription layer processes audio streams in near real time, feeding into Dialpad's coaching and analytics features. The contact center product (Dialpad Contact Center, formerly Dialpad Support) adds queue management, IVR routing, and supervisor dashboards on top of the core voice infrastructure. Integrations with Salesforce, HubSpot, Zendesk, and other CRM systems sync call recordings, transcripts, and outcomes automatically after each interaction.

A platform outage at Dialpad disrupts business communication across both inbound and outbound channels. Inbound calls fail to route, meaning customers calling support or sales lines receive busy signals or disconnection instead of reaching agents. Outbound calls drop before connecting or fail to dial. The real-time transcription layer — which some Dialpad customers rely on as a compliance record — stops generating transcripts, creating gaps in call documentation. The desktop and mobile apps may show online status but fail to establish call connections, creating a confusing experience where the interface appears functional but voice is broken. Integrations that push call outcomes to CRM systems stop syncing.

Outage.gg monitors Dialpad's service health in real time so businesses can quickly identify platform-side voice failures. Check the live status page when calls start dropping.
