Astound Broadband is the unified consumer brand that emerged in 2022 when RCN, Wave Broadband, and Grande Communications consolidated under a single name — though the underlying infrastructure in each market remains largely the same cable and fibre plant those regional operators had built over decades. The company serves residential and business customers in markets across the Northeast, Pacific Northwest, Texas, and the Chicago metro, operating in the shadow of the national carriers but often holding competitive positions in the specific cities where its network is well-built. The rebranding was intended to create a single identity for upselling and customer retention across what had been fragmented regional brands.

Astound's service portfolio covers cable internet, voice, and in some markets television, all managed through the My Astound customer portal and mobile app. Internet service delivery relies on DOCSIS 3.1 infrastructure in most markets, with speeds competitive with regional cable alternatives. Outages in cable broadband networks typically stem from node-level problems — equipment failures that affect groups of homes sharing the same coaxial distribution network — rather than core network failures. That means Astound outages are often geographically concentrated rather than system-wide, affecting a neighbourhood while adjacent areas remain fully operational.
